About the city of Padua

Padua is a city in the Veneto region in north-eastern Italy, located west of Venice and southeast of Vicenza. Well known for being the setting of Shakepeare's The Taming of the Shrew, the city is also known for its 800 year old university and its picturesque setting. Standing across the Bacchliglione river, Padua is made up of a network of arcaded streets that open up into a large central square, and a number of bridges spanning the river.
