Milan Malpensa airport consists of two passenger terminals: terminals 1 and 2. Terminal 1 has a lower, ground, first, and second floor whereas terminal 2 has a ground and first floor.
Terminal 1 is a multi-functional building with a railway station and a car hire facility on the lower floor. It has a shopping area covering over 7,250 sqm and more than 74 stores, with over 38 international brands. The ground floor arrivals area has 10 baggage claim belts and a baggage handling system capacity of 11,400 bags/h, as well as a parking bus zone. The first-floor departures area has 22 hand baggage check-in desks, 76 gates, 21 body-check points, and 28 passport control points. The second floor has 256 check-in desks and 26 ticket desks.
Terminal 2 has a ground-floor arrivals area with 5 baggage claim belts and a baggage handling system capacity of 3,600 bags/h. The ground floor departures area has 54 check-in desks, 25 gates, 6 ticket desks, 9 body-check points, and 10 passport control points. The first-floor departures area has 11 gates, a shopping area of about 1,400 sqm with 11 shops including duty-free, and a dining area of 2,000 sqm with 7 stores and 12 international brands.
