Your guide to the best last-minute September travel destinations!

As the high season comes to an end and resorts become quieter, it’s an opportune time to scoop a last-minute travel deal. There are lots of great destinations that flourish in September, but if you’re struggling to narrow down the options, here’s our pick of the top five:

  1. Budapest, Hungary

If you consider yourself a bit of a wine connoisseur, then Budapest is the destination for you! Budapest International Wine Festival takes place in September and pops the cork on the latest wine trends, as well as offering a selection of fine foods and activities for all the family.

Top tip: fancy sight-seeing with a difference? Budapest offers city tourists Europe’s only water bus tour…yes, that’s a bus, on the water!

  1. Scilly, Italy

If the hustle and bustle of Italian hot spots such as Rome and Venice don’t take your fancy, why not opt for the picturesque island of Scilly. Just off the ‘toe’ of Italy, temperatures are still fairly high in September and visitors can enjoy the sandy beaches and medieval towns without the herds of crowds.

Top tip: if you visit between 17th – 20th you’ll get to experience the Festival Internazionale del Gelato a Cefalù in – an artisan ice cream festival held in Palermo with over 30 gelato shops in attendance!

  1. Edinburgh, UK

Scotland’s capital city welcomes weathers of all kinds, all year round, making it a hit with tourists whatever the month! When it comes to a city break, Edinburgh has it all – sights steeped in culture, a vibrant bar and restaurant scene and plenty of breath-taking scenery.

Top tip: if you haven’t visited before, the iconic Edinburgh Castle is a must see. Check out the Bolts and Bodkins event happening this September.

  1. Dubrovnik, Croatia

If you’re a Game of Thrones fanatic then no doubt you’ll be familiar with the impressive scenery of Dubrovnik. Not usually tipped as one of the top beach holiday destinations, Dubrovnik features several nice beaches overlooking clear blue waters, equipped with all the facilities you’d need for a great family holiday in September.

Top tip: most of the main attractions are concealed within the medieval walls of the car-free old town.

  1. ParkCloud’s wild card: Chicago, U.S.A

Not a destination that typically appears on the list of September travel recommendations, but Chicago has a lot to offer travellers that venture out there in autumn. September sees the world’s largest jazz festival come to town – but if jazz isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of other events happening to satisfy every musical taste!

Top tip: having held the title of the world’s tallest building for almost 25 years, the Willis Tower is most definitely worth a visit. Formerly known as Sears Tower, you can enjoy a romantic meal with spectacular views in the tower’s Sky Deck.

If you’re planning a last-minute holiday this September, make sure you don’t leave everything until the last minute! Reserve your airport parking with ParkCloud today and jet off with peace of mind.
