Tours airport information

The Airport of Tours-Val de Loire opened to commercial flights in 1962 and is located in Cheval between Tours and Parçay-Meslay in the department of Indre et Loire. It cannot accommodate large aircraft but has, several times, welcomed Concorde.

The Airport of Tours Val De Loire was constructed in the 1930s and was known as the Aerodrome of Tours St Symphorien. It was used for military purposes during the second world war before it was destroyed by German and British bombing. At the end of the war it was used by NATO and the US Air Force before it was turned into a French Air Base in 1952. However, it wasn't until the 1960s that it was used for civilian flights. The Airport has routes to London, Porto, Marseille, Dublin, Figari (Corsica) and many other destinations all over Europe.
