Event raises over £500 for mental health charity

On the third Friday in September, ParkCloud participated in "Park(ing) Day", an annual worldwide event temporarily transforming parking spaces into public places. One of the event's aims is to raise awareness of different issues, so this year ParkCloud chose to dedicate the day to fundraising for the local office of mental health charity, Mind.

The 18th September saw ParkCloud staff compete in a sponsored head-to-head yoga relay, alongside selling homemade lemonade and BBQ food, and washing passing cars. Overall just over £550 was raised for Stockport Mind on the day, which was well-attended by representatives from Life Leisure gyms, who were on hand to kit out the teams with t-shirts and fitness advice, as well as ParkCloud friends and family, invited guests, passers-by and even Stockport's Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Andrew Verdeille and Mrs Cleo Cundall.

Established over 60 years, Mind works to improve the lives of all people with experience of mental health problems, providing advice and support and promoting understanding. The money raised will be used to help people affected by mental health issues in the Stockport and District area.
